BMT expands Global Capability under 'BMT Defence'

13-Sep-2005

BMT has marshalled its world-wide defence capabilities under the BMT Defence banner.

BMT, whose recent projects include design of the US X-Craft, key involvement in the design of the UK CVF and support to the Canadian and Australian governments in their current major platform procurement programmes, is looking to continue the expansion of its defence business in land and air defence sectors and internationally. On-going involvement in the Nimrod MRA4, Eurofighter, AirTanker and Cormorant are examples of the former, while the newly established business in Australia demonstrates the latter.

In the US BMT forms a key part of the evaluation team for the US Coast Guard’s Deepwater programme to replace all its coastal and ocean going vessels. BMT is also supporting the US Defense Advance Research Projects Agency’s Internet Control Plane project which aims to improve end-to-end Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol wide-area network performance between the Continental United States operating base and forward deployed tactical units.

Andrew Tyler, Chief Executive of BMT Defence said: "BMT has a comprehensive defence capability spanning North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia. BMT Defence will allow us to deliver these services seamlessly to our customers throughout the world."

BMT retains its subsidiary company structure that provides the network of offices through which BMT Defence will deliver its services. Increasingly BMT delivers multiple capabilities from different BMT companies through a common contract; a typical example being the continuing involvement of four BMT companies in supporting the Canadian DND on the Joint Support Ship. BMT’s specialist capabilities such as advanced ship simulation, aerodynamics, and hydrodynamics are also available through this approach.

BMT Defence will facilitate the marketing of these capabilities and the integration of different skills to provide customers with a complete service through a single point of contact located locally to their needs.
